Izabella Mancewicz is a Medical AI Researcher at the Cao Lab and the President & Co-founder of Nexus, a national hub empowering clinicians to lead the future of MedTech. At the frontier of medical AGI, her research explores the integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) into the healthcare workforce, also analysing how these models mirror clinical reasoning and decision-making. Through Nexus, she translates this technical expertise into community impact, leading coding bootcamps, national hackathons, and networking initiatives that equip students and doctors with the tools to build, not just use, future technologies.
Currently a Berkeley AI Policy Fellow at BASIS, Izabella works at the intersection of AI governance, healthcare safety, and policy. She is driven by the conviction that meaningful transformation in healthcare must be led by clinician-innovators grounded in empathy and ethics. Her work advocates for a future where early-career doctors possess the agency to question AI systems and shape their development, ensuring innovation remains transparent, responsible, and patient-centered.
