What is this course about?

The Monash Global Medical AI Challenge (22nd Nov – 7th Dec 2025) is a 2-week international program bringing together medical students from universities worldwide to explore AI in healthcare through hands-on learning and collaborative project development.

Led by A/Prof Khoa Cao (Cao Lab for Medical AGI/ASI, Monash University), this program combines AI fundamentals, biodesign thinking, and clinical translation to help you build practical AI healthcare solutions.

Program Format

The Monash Global Medical AI Challenge uses a hybrid learning model designed to accommodate students across multiple time zones while fostering global collaboration. Students all across the world from Italy, Germany, Portugal, Nepal, Hong Kong and Korea are participating.

• Week 1: Foundations (22nd – 29th Nov)

  Asynchronous Learning:

  • Lectures delivered live at Monash University, live-streamed & recorded via Zoom
  • Self-paced modules on AI fundamentals, biodesign
  • Discussion forums for Q&A and peer interaction

  Synchronous Sessions:

  • Weekend Workshop**:** Saturday 29 Nov AND Sunday 30 Nov (3-4 hours), livestreamed via Zoom
  • Live interactive workshop with global cohort

• Week 2: Translation & Creation (1st – 7th Dec)

  Asynchronous Work:

  • Team project development and build sprints
  • Deliverable: 3-5 minute video pitch + demo of your AI healthcare solution
  • Access to mentorship office hours
  • Live interviews with medical AI leaders

  Synchronous Session:

  • Closing ceremony & Final presentations (Zoom): Saturday 7th Dec (2-3 hours)
